Visa Information

Cultural Care is authorized by the US Department of State to issue a J-1 exchange visitor visa valid for 4 months.

The Application Procedure

Pre-apply online, and we will send you the application forms* and instructions. When we get your complete application, we will invite you to a mandatory screening and orientation meeting. At the meeting, you will get more information about the program and we will do a short interview with you in English. After the meeting we can accept you to the program. After you have been accepted to the program we will also need a Health Certificate as well as a criminal record. *Please note that the application forms are not the same as for the one year au pair program.

Education Component

You are required to complete 1.5 hours of academic credit during the program which will be offered at the New York training school. You are required to attend this free training course organized by Cultural Care prior to your arrival to your host family.

Deposit and Completion Bonus

When your placement is finalized you will pay a refundable deposit of $$$ which will be refunded to you upon successful completion of the Cultural Care Summer Au Pair Program. If you return home early or fail to meet the program requirements, you will lose your deposit and will be responsible for the cost of your return flight home.

$139.05 weekly stipend.
4 days of paid vacation.
A preparation course in New York.
1.5 days off per week.
You will look after children aged 2 years and up
45 hours per week of childcare related duties (maximum 10 hours per day).
Local Support from Cultural Care Representatives.
24 hour on-call service in the US and assistance from Cultural Care at all times.
